Question: Does Webcelerate Accelerator allow products that use other local proxy servers to work?

Yes. Products using Proxy servers can work together in a "daisy chain" configuration to allow different products to work together to pre-process content independently but pass the final processed Web content to the browser. Since Webcelerate Accelerator provides a network infrastructure for compression, caching, and acceleration, it does need to be the last one in the chain. In order for a product that uses a proxy server to work with Webcelerate Accelerator, it should have an option to allow another proxy server to be the "next hop" in the daisy chain (instead of going out to fetch the Web directly). To enable Webcelerate Accelerator to work with other local proxy servers, configure the other proxy server's "next hop" to be that of Webcelerate Accelerator. Note: The Webcelerate Accelerator HTTP proxy server typically uses localhost port 8080. To find out the port number currently in use by Webcelerate Accelerator, Select Options from the Webcelerate Accelerator menu (blue propeller icon near the system clock) and click on the Advanced button.
